Hal Lindsey Presents — we look more closely at the two witnesses of Revelation 11

On this week’s Hal Lindsey Presents, we look more closely at the two witnesses of Revelation 11. They are among the most fascinating characters in all the Bible. Many books have been written about them, and they have been the subject of endless speculation.

On this week’s program, we will go directly to the Bible to find the answer. I will show you why I believe the witnesses will be Moses and Elijah.

Luke 9:29-31 tells the story of Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. He took Peter, John, and James with Him. “And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

It is even more dramatic in the original Greek. It says light blazed from within Him. The light shown through His skin and His clothes. His deity showed through His humanity. Moses and Elijah appeared with Him. Then God the Father spoke from heaven. It was an astounding event.

Later, the disciples asked Him about Malachi 4:5. “Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.” Luke 1:17 describes John the Baptist as the one who would go forth “in the spirit and power of Elijah.” Jesus agreed with this, saying in Matthew 11:14, “If you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah.”

But Israel was not willing to receive it. That’s why Jesus said plainly in Matthew 17:11, “Elijah is coming.” This was not a reference to John the Baptist because by then John had already come. This was a reference to Elijah himself.

On this week’s Hal Lindsey Presents, I will tell you more about why we can confidently identify Moses and Elijah as the two witnesses. It is awesome to see how perfectly God’s word holds together on this fascinating topic. I hope you can join me.
