The abortion debate will erupt again on Capitol Hill this fall if the Senate takes up a House bill giving legal recourse to anyone pressured to help perform the procedure. The measure is needed, Elizabeth Slattery and Jana Minich write. A new fighter jet gets a thumbs-up from seasoned Air Force pilots. JV Venable has takeaways from a Heritage Foundation report. Hear about the university that allows a terrorist to appear but bars a conservative speaker? John-Michael Seibler and Nathan Howe sound off. Uh-oh, it’s Frozen Custard Day.

How DePaul University surrenders to the mob. Did DePaul University just admit that it can’t keep its students safe from fellow students who are protesting? Sure seems that way. Hiding behind student protesters, however, might just be a smoke screen for advancing the school’s own political agenda. DePaul informed members of a conservative student organization, Young Americans for Freedom, that they were barred from bringing conservative commentator Ben Shapiro to the Chicago campus to speak. DePaul administrators professed security fears, writes The Heritage Foundation’s Nathan Howe and John-Michael Seibler.
What lawmakers can do to protect rights of pro-life medical professionals. The Heritage Foundation’s Jana Minich and Elizabeth Slattery write that James Madison once wrote that “Conscience is the most sacred of all property.” Sadly, over the course of the Obama administration, there has been an effort to strip away this most precious right when it is pitted against preferred liberal causes, such as abortion. Whatever you think about abortion, no one should be forced to take part in an action that they believe is morally wrong.
Nine insights on the F-35A from 31 experienced fighter pilots. Air Force Gen. Herbert “Hawk” Carlisle, commander of Air Combat Command, this week declared the F-35A fighter jet ready for combat. While many pundits and politicians have questioned the worth of this jet, the only people who know the ground truth are the pilots themselves. A total of 174 U.S. pilots currently have been trained to fly Lockheed Martin’s F-35A Lightning II. The Heritage Foundation recently interviewed 31 of these former F-15C, F-15E, F-16C, and A-10 pilots.
What we’re reading: “Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s brief foray into partisan campaign politics earlier this summer drew attention mostly for her criticism of Donald Trump. But the presidential candidate wasn’t her only target. She also took a gratuitous swing at congressional Republicans. Specifically, she criticized Senate Republicans for declining to act on President Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by Anton Scalia’s death. ‘That’s their job,’ she told The New York Times. ‘There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being president in his last year,'” writes Adam White in City Journal.

While some Russian athletes will be able to compete at the Olympics in Rio, the doping scandal has once again highlighted the criminal nature of the Russian regime, a nature that is at the very heart of the country’s actions at home and abroad.
